Department of Economics

The Department of Economics was established in 2004 and became the first institute of higher learning in Pakistan to offer a 4-Year specialized BS program in the field of Economics. The prime objective behind the establishment of the Department was to provide the highest standards of excellence in learning and research. BS Economics Program is developed such that it enhances learners’ critical thinking, quantitative reasoning, problem-solving, specialized knowledge and its application and communication skills. The achievements of the graduated students— who have acquired jobs in leading institutions of Pakistan; and admission in leading graduate programs globally— reflect the quality and excellence of the BS Economics Program at BUITEMS.

With a similar commitment level, in 2013, the Department started a Master’s degree in Economics. Following the guidelines and standards extended by the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (HEC) the MS Program in Economics at BUITEMS offers training in economic theory, econometrics and/or applied economics. The curriculum is structured around the core and optional topics like Microeconomic Theory, Macroeconomic Theory, Econometrics, Public Finance, Labor Economics, financial development, industrial health, International Sustainable Economic Development and Agricultural economics.
