The mission of the Psychology Department is to produce professionals who can systematically study human behavior to devise means for improvement of quality of life both for individual and for society.
The undergraduate program of the Department of Psychology in BUITEMS was established in 2017. It aims to give students a solid grounding in the basic theories, methods and techniques of modern psychology and a broad acquaintance with the various substantive areas of the field. The BS program is designed to equip students with knowledge of theoretical underpinnings of psychology, therapeutic techniques as well as basic skills in research. It will also enable them to pursue study at the graduate level for further specialization. In harmony with the contemporary trends in academia, we adopt a worldwide accepted and proven semester scheme to impart practical knowledge to the students. The curriculum is designed keeping in view the classic theories and methods as well as the latest developments in the field.
The BS Psychology program intends to build critical insight in students on the real-life implications of various psychological theories and models & in future making students capable of understanding the logic and need of various behavioural research methods. It will familiarize students with the professions that they can adopt as graduates in psychology and helping them develop skill and creativity to introduce new professional roles as psychology graduates.
