Department of Fine Arts
LThe Department of Fine Arts was initiated at BUITEMS, in fall 2010 with the aim and objective to provide students with quality art education in the province, Baluchistan is the largest province of the country; with a rich cultural background, it has a great tradition of folk heritage. Baluchistan is home to 9,000 years old ‘Mehr Garh’ civilization, aptly called the hub of civilizations and has been a valuable source of inspiration for artists and researchers. BUITEMS believes that art education is the best way to preserve the history, culture and craft of an area. Our mission is to provide the artistic skill to the people of far-flung areas of Baluchistan and to provide an opportunity to the future artists of the province to carry out creative research and study according to their respective cultural backgrounds. We aim to inspire creativity in our students so that they express themselves in the language of the visual and performing art.
The Department of Fine arts offers a four year BS course in various disciplines of Arts. At present we are focused on four major areas of the field; that are; Painting, Sculpture, Miniature Painting and Printmaking. The drawing is considered as the backbone of Fine Arts, therefore, it is taught as a compulsory subject to every student, however, in 6th semester students choose a major discipline in line with their potential and imagination. The Department of Fine Arts is keen to introduce its students to advancements in Fine Arts. For this purpose it arranges various events which include lectures by renowned artists of Pakistan, holding workshops, and arranging exhibitions on regular basis. Since Fine Arts Department BUITEMS is a great attraction for the young artists the Department is looking forward to introducing new venues on other crafts of the region with the main objective of promoting local pottery and innovation in design.
The Department is also keen to start MFA (Masters in Fine Arts) which will gradually help us to initiate PhD program and eventually lead us towards the establishment of a fully-fledged Center of Excellence in Research.
