The Department of Civil Engineering at BUITEMS successfully convened its Industry Advisory Board (IAB) meeting on 4th October 2024 in the Faculty of Engineering's Meeting Room. The session was chaired by Dr. Naik Muhammad and attended by esteemed members, including Engr. Sarbuland Khan, Engr. Muhammad Ayub, Engr. Faria Sherbano, Engr. Yasir Khan, Engr. Imran Sherani, Arch. Akrama, Dr. Saeedullah Jan, Dr. Syed Nasir Shah, and Dr. Syed Abdul Ghafar.
The primary agenda revolved around updating the curriculum in accordance with the PEC 2023 guidelines, aligning Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs) with Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs), and integrating UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into course design.
Key Outcomes of the Meeting:
Curriculum Enhancement: Inclusion of modern software tools like GIS, Primavera, and Building Information Modeling (BIM) to equip students with cutting-edge technical skills.
Field Exposure: Plans for enhanced field visits to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
Internship Improvements: Streamlined processes for securing and monitoring student internships to ensure maximum industry engagement.
New Modules: Introduction of specialized modules on contracts and bidding to strengthen students' knowledge of construction project management.
Workshops and Seminars: Proposed workshops on renewable energy and guest seminars with industry experts to enrich the learning experience.
The meeting concluded with a commitment to follow up on the proposed action items, monitor their integration into the academic curriculum, and forward the recommendations to the Board of Studies (BOS) for final approval.
