BUITEMS Signs MoU with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD) to Promote Literacy and Human Development Initiatives

The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Commission for Human Development (NCHD), Islamabad, to enhance cooperation in education, literacy, research, and community development initiatives across Pakistan, with a special focus on Balochistan.

The agreement underscores BUITEMS’ commitment to national development and social uplift through strategic partnerships, aligning with the Government of Pakistan’s Education Emergency 2024 and the Prime Minister’s National Literacy Drive – Each One Teach One (EOTO) initiative.

The ceremony was graced by Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez (T.I.), Vice Chancellor BUITEMS, as the chief signatory. Other distinguished attendees included Prof. Dr. Arbab Mirwais Kasi (Pro Vice Chancellor), Mohammad Ahsan Achakzai (Registrar, Acting), Prof. Dr. Abdul Wadood (Director Student Affairs & Academics), Prof. Dr. Nazeer Ahmed (Dean Graduate Studies Office), and Syed Dara Shikoh Amir (Director Communications, BUITEMS).

Representing NCHD were Mr. Ali Asghar, Director General; Mr. Abdul Raziq Kasi, Director Operations NCHD Balochistan; and Mr. Attaullah Badini, Deputy Director NCHD Balochistan.

Scope of Collaboration
The MoU outlines a multi-dimensional framework of collaboration, including:
Implementation of the EOTO Literacy Initiative: Engaging BUITEMS students and faculty as literacy trainers and mentors to promote education at the grassroots level.
Internships and Employment: Providing skill development and employment opportunities for BUITEMS students through NCHD programs.
Joint Research and Projects: Developing and executing collaborative projects to advance education and human development.
Seminars, Workshops, and Conferences: Co-hosting academic and policy dialogues on human development, literacy, and community engagement.
Volunteerism and Community Work: Encouraging students and faculty to participate in community-oriented initiatives fostering social responsibility.

Speaking on the occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez emphasized BUITEMS’ vision of connecting academia with national development agendas, stating that “such partnerships empower universities to go beyond classrooms and contribute meaningfully to society.”

The MoU reflects BUITEMS’ continued dedication to education, social transformation, and sustainable development. It reinforces the university’s role as a hub of innovation and community engagement in Balochistan, creating opportunities for students to become active contributors to Pakistan’s literacy and human development goals.
