The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences was chosen as the SDG Hub for Goal 8 (Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all) by the United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) in 2018 for a period of three years. In recognition of the research, innovation and scholarship undertaken in support of SDG, UNAI have extended further, the term for BUITEMS as the global SDG8 hub 2021-2024.
Taking up its commitment as the SDG 8 hub, the ventures of BUITEMS are multifold with regard to overall growth as an institution. Performing its services beyond the education, BUITEMS provides technical and advisory assistance, research initiatives, consultancy services, counselling and employment opportunities for its students, alumni and the community.
To support the SDG’s agenda of 2030, BUITEMS has keen interest in SDG 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth. BUITEMS has an enriched experience of working with local, national and International organizations, like various agencies of United Nations, JICA, PPAF, NADRA, Pakistan Army, State Bank of Pakistan, Association of Commonwealth Universities ACU, USEFP, and HEC are few mentioned.
In fulfilling its mission, BUITEMS aims for academic excellence and seeks to enhance its institutional capacities from partnerships, research, grants, and technology transfer. The institution wants to be among the leading universities of the world, while being accessible to all. Imparting quality education and promoting cutting edge research. BUITEMS has incorporated entrepreneurship in its curricula for all major degree programs and has also encouraged its students and alumni to plan their start-ups. To extend support to its students, the university, in collaboration with the Ministry of Information Technology, established a National Incubation Center (NIC) at BUITEMS.
The NIC, located on campus, is a pro-innovation hub and business accelerator that provides a platform to budding entrepreneurs to demonstrate their talent and passion to solve the problems of the province and beyond.
