The 2020 Batch of BS Fashion & Textile Design students showcased their Thesis Display on September 9, 2024, at BUITEMS, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of the graduating class. The event was inaugurated by Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani, Chief Minister of Balochistan, along with the Vice-Chancellor of BUITEMS, Pro Vice-Chancellor, Registrar, and Dean Faculty of Engineering & Architecture, Dr. Muhammad Qasim Siddiqui, Chairperson of the Textile Engineering & Fashion Design department, accompanied by faculty members. Representatives from various colleges and schools in Quetta were also present to witness the occasion.
The exhibition featured the innovative fashion collections of 28 talented students, displaying a remarkable range of technical expertise, design thinking, and creativity. Ms. Raheela Hameed Khan Durrani and the Vice-Chancellor praised the students for their dedication and hard work in producing such high-quality collections. They also expressed gratitude to the faculty for their continued mentorship and support, which played a pivotal role in helping students reach this important academic achievement.
In addition to the Fashion & Textile Design showcase, Final Year Projects by BS Textile Engineering students were also on display. Their work highlighted innovative research focused on sustainable and locally sourced materials, including projects on banana fibre extraction and product development from Pakistani banana stalks, as well as the preparation of wool fibre-based composites using Indigenous Balochi wool.
This successful event underscored BUITEMS' commitment to nurturing future professionals who are well-equipped to make meaningful contributions to the ever-evolving textile and fashion industry in Pakistan.
