The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering, and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) announces the retirement of Professor Dr. Mohammad Saeed from the Department of Environmental Science, Faculty of Life Sciences & Informatics. Professor Saeed has served BUITEMS with dedication and distinction for over a decade, significantly contributing to the academic and research community.
To honor Professor Saeed’s remarkable service, a farewell party was arranged by the Faculty of Life Sciences & Informatics. The event was graced by the presence of Pro-Vice Chancellor of BUITEMS, Dr. Abdul Rehman Khan, the Registrar of BUITEMS, the Director of Communications, and all faculty members of the Faculty of Life Sciences & Informatics. During the event, Dr. M. Naeem Shahwani expressed heartfelt gratitude to Professor Saeed for his invaluable contributions to BUITEMS and his role in shaping the future of many students and colleagues.
Professor Saeed's illustrious career spans several decades, during which he has made substantial contributions to the field of plant sciences, with a specialization in plant ecophysiology and the ecophysiology of seed germination. He has earned several academic degrees, including a Post Doctorate and PhD from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece. His research work, particularly in the areas of ecology, juniper conservation, and plant physiology, has been published in numerous national and international journals.
Joining BUITEMS in 2006 as an Assistant Professor, Professor Saeed becoming an Associate Professor in 2007, and later, a professor in 2014. Over the years, he has supervised a significant number of PhD and MS students, leaving an indelible mark on the academic journey of many young scholars.
Beyond his teaching and supervision, Professor Saeed has been actively involved in research projects, including studies on the regeneration of Chilgoza Pine and Juniper in Balochistan, funded by prestigious institutions like the Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF).
As he retires, BUITEMS extends its heartfelt gratitude to Professor Mohammad Saeed for his outstanding service and contributions. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of scholars and researchers at the university. We wish him a fulfilling and joyous retirement.
