A one day Kashmir solidarity day Conference 2022 was arranged at BUITEMS, Takatu Campus on February 4. The conference started with the recitation of the Holy verses from the Quran. BUITEMS alumnus and activist, Mr. Faisal Qayyum Mogary elaborated on the role of the United Nations in the Kashmir Dispute as well as the historical background of the freedom struggle in Kashmir. He urged that the UN should give the right of a referendum to the Kashmiri people as per UN resolutions.
Executive Director, Balochistan Think Tank (BTTN), Dr. Zafar khan expressed his views on the topic, "Kashmir on fire Under Hindutva fascist Regime: The long-standing struggle for self-determination". Dr. Zafar talked about the conditions faced by the Kashmiri people after the Implementation of Article 370 which has given rise to Human Rights violations in Kashmir. Dr Zafar suggested peaceful dialogue between Pakistan and India as the ultimate solution to the dispute. Dr. Zafar further informed the audience that if the dispute continues it increases mistrust between the two countries as well it can trigger a nuclear crisis which isn't to anyone's benefit. He added that Kashmir will produce more freedom fighters and the geopolitical and geo-economic issues will keep the whole region disturbed.
The chief guest of the conference, Pro VC BUITEMS, Dr. Abdul Rehman Khan in his remarks appreciated the participants who attended the conference keeping in view the winter vacations. He said," Our presence here reflects the seriousness of the Kashmir issue". The Pro VC talked about the Human rights violations in Kashmir and put the light on revoking the rights of Kashmiris by the Indian Government. In the concluding remarks, the Pro VC endorsed a peaceful dialogue between the two countries for the resolution of the Kashmir dispute as the sole solution to the problem.
The conference was proceeded by a walk to show solidarity with the Kashmiri people. The Pro VC along with all the participants including Registrar, Deans, and Directors, Faculty, staff and students participated in the walk.
