BUITEMS Quetta hosted a seminar on “Counter Narcotics Campaign Against Drugs in Educational Institutions”, organized in collaboration with the Ministry of Narcotics Control and the Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) Regional Directorate Balochistan. The event, held at the university auditorium, was a part of BUITEMS’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness and combat the rising threat of drug abuse among youth.
Prof. Dr. Khalid Hafeez, Vice Chancellor of BUITEMS, was one of the key speakers at the seminar. He highlighted the university’s critical role in promoting drug-free environments through education, awareness, and student engagement. Dr. Hafeez underscored BUITEMS commitment to fostering a safe and healthy academic atmosphere and ensuring that the students have access to the support they need to make informed decisions and avoid the dangers of narcotics.
The event featured prominent speakers, including:
Brigadier Adnan Danish, RD Commander, ANF Balochistan, who shared ANF’s strategic efforts in fighting narcotics in the province.
Dr. Hamza Shafqat, Commissioner of Quetta Division, who discussed the increasing concern of drug abuse among youth and the collective role of institutions in addressing the crisis.
Dr. Qari Abdul Rasheed (TI), who delivered a motivational speech urging participants to unite against drugs.
Dr. Asmatullah Khan, Head of the Psychology Department at BUITEMS, who explored the psychological impacts of drug abuse and the importance of early intervention.
BUITEMS also showcased its commitment through the participation of its students. Ms. Pohna Maqbool and Mr. Sanaullah, from the Department of Psychology, delivered compelling speeches on how students can lead the fight against narcotics by raising awareness among their peers.
The seminar concluded with a question-answer session and closing remarks, followed by a group photo and a symbolic walk to show solidarity with the cause. BUITEMS, through such events, continues to play a pivotal role in supporting anti-drug campaigns, promoting a safe academic environment, and educating students on the harmful effects of drug use.
