BUITEMS Recognized for Contribution to Pistachio Variety Registration

The Balochistan University of Information Technology, Engineering and Management Sciences (BUITEMS) is proud to announce the recognition of Prof. Dr. Shahjahan Shabbir Ahmed Rana from the Faculty of Life Sciences & Informatics (FLSI) for his valuable contribution to agricultural research in Pakistan.

Prof. Dr. Shahjahan Shabbir Ahmed Rana provided molecular characterization support for the recently registered three pistachio (Pistacia vera L.) varieties of PARC-BARDC, Quetta, approved through the Variety Evaluation Committee (VEC), PARC Islamabad. His professional expertise, technical guidance, and dedicated efforts played a pivotal role in the successful registration of these pistachio varieties—marking a landmark achievement for Pakistan’s agricultural sector. This milestone will significantly boost pistachio research, breeding, and cultivation in Balochistan and across the country, promoting both food security and economic development.

Acknowledging this contribution, Muhammad Nadeem Sadiq, Director General, PARC-BARDC Quetta, expressed deep appreciation and looked forward to continued collaboration with BUITEMS in advancing future scientific endeavors.
