Report on Participation in the Project Launching Ceremony of Balochistan Centre for Excellence in Renewable Energy (BCRE)

The Project Launching Ceremony of the Balochistan Centre for Excellence in Renewable Energy (BCRE) was held on the 17th of February, 2025, at the Governor House, Balochistan. The event was attended by an esteemed gathering of notable figures, including religious scholars, vice-chancellors from leading universities such as Balochistan University of IT, Engineering & Management Sciences (BUITEMS), University of Balochistan (UoB), and Sardar Bahadur Khan University (SBKU), along with academicians, administrators, bureaucrats, and interfaith scholars from the Hindu, Christian, Sikh, and Parsi communities.

Proceedings of the Ceremony

The program commenced with the recitation of a few verses from the Holy Quran, setting a solemn and respectful tone for the event.

Opening Remarks

Dr. Tahir Rasheed, CEO of the Balochistan Rural Support Programme (BRSP), delivered the welcome note and provided an overview of BRSP’s accomplishments in the region. His address highlighted the critical role BRSP has played in sustainable development and renewable energy initiatives.

Overview of PATRIP’s Contribution

Dr. Shahnawas Khan, General Manager of Programmes at BRSP, presented a comprehensive summary of PATRIP’s contributions to Balochistan. He emphasized the organization's role in fostering development projects and promoting renewable energy in the region.

Government’s Role in Green Energy

Representing the Secretary of Energy, Mr. Dawood Ahmed Bazai elaborated on the government’s initiatives and commitment to promoting green energy solutions in Balochistan. He stressed the importance of such projects in enhancing energy security and economic growth in the province.

International Acknowledgment

The ceremony also included online remarks and appreciation from H.H. Dr. Rudiger Lotz, the Consul General of Germany in Karachi. He expressed his support for the project and acknowledged its potential impact on the renewable energy landscape in Balochistan.

Address by the Honorable Governor

The Honorable Governor of Balochistan, Sheikh Jaffar Khan Mandokhail, delivered the keynote address. He commended the collaborative efforts of academia especially the BUITEMS, the public sector, and private enterprises in establishing the BCRE. He underscored the significance of such initiatives in driving regional prosperity and sustainable development. The Governor also took the opportunity to distribute shields and souvenirs to key contributors to the project.

Closing Remarks

The program concluded with a vote of thanks and closing remarks by Malik Anwar Saleem Kasi, Chairman of the BRSP Board of Directors. He extended his gratitude to all attendees and stakeholders for their unwavering support in making the BCRE a reality.
