Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) Preparation Programs at BUITEMS

The Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi (HSK) is a standardized Chinese proficiency test that assesses the language proficiency of non-native Chinese speakers. Widely used for educational and professional purposes, the testis divided into six levels, ranging from HSK-I to HSK-VI. Each level represents a different proficiency in the Chinese language.

The China Study Center (CSC) at Balochistan University of IT, Engineering & Management Sciences (BUITEMS) offers language programs for the preparation of HSK at levels I, II, and III. Since its inception, CSC has successfully conducted three batches of these programs, awarding certificates to qualified candidates.

Course Details:

Course Duration: Each level has a duration of 3 months.

HSK-I (初级) - Basic Level:

  • Vocabulary: Approximately 150 words.
  • Grammar: Basic sentence structures.
  • Ability: Understand and use simple Chinese phrases, meet basic communication needs, and possess the ability to further their Chinese language studies.

HSK-II (初级) - Elementary Level:

  • Vocabulary: Around 300 words.
  • Grammar: Expanded sentence structures.
  • Ability: Communicate in simple and routine tasks, requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.

HSK-III (中级) - Intermediate Level:

  • Vocabulary: About 600 words.
  • Grammar: Complex sentence structures.
  • Ability: Communicate in Chinese at a basic level in daily, academic, and professional lives. Can manage most communication in Chinese when traveling in China.
Progression:
These levels serve as a progression, and as one moves up, the complexity of vocabulary, grammar, and communication tasks increases. Beyond HSK-III, there are HSK-IV (Intermediate-Advanced), HSK-V (Advanced), and HSK-VI (Superior). The higher levels are designed for individuals with advanced proficiency, capable of handling more complex language tasks in academic and professional settings.
